When does the academic year starts?

The academic begins in late September or early October in most universities. Each academic year is comprised of two semesters.

How long are the medicine and dentistry degree courses?

These are six years programme and dentistry between five and six years (depending on the university). The programme require pre-clinical (usually first three years) and clinical years of practical training, along with mandatory internship work during the last three years of study. After completing the medical programme, students sit the licence examination and when successful they are awarded their degree and are qualified to practice.

Are the Medicine and Dentistry programmes taught in English?

Yes, the entire degree programme will be taught in English; but Students will be taught and have to improve their knowledge of the local Bulgarian language as part of the university course. This will allow students to communicate with patients of the University Hospital from their third year onwards when they go for practical.

How many months of study will I do each year?

The university teaching year lasts around eight months. There will be generous study breaks at Christmas, Easter and during the summer.

Do I need a student visa to study?

Are the qualifications recognised in  India ?

YES, all our Medical Universities are internationally accredited institutions and the degrees they award are well respected and recognised. They are listed on the WHO (World Health Organization) directory of international medical schools and are on the IMED (International Medical Education Directory) public database of worldwide medical schools. In Britain, it is accredited by the General Medical council and the General Dentistry Council. In India , It is accredited by Medical Council of India (MCI)

In which countries can I practice medicine after obtaining the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Degree?

as well as many other countries of your choice (USA and UK bodies are ACGME and GMC, respectively). All medical graduates should register with the local body of their country.

Can I get a scholarship from any of the EU Universities?

Commonwealth residents and those from other countries should contact their local educational authorities to check availability.

How much are the tuition fees? do I pay the fees to the university, upfront or in easy instalments?

The tuition fees are 8000 Euros or approximately 6 lakhs and 25000 rupees. You can usually pay the tuition fees in two or three instalments throughout the year.

Will the annual tuition fees be static during all six years of study?

Tuition fees will be static, however how much you pay depends on the inflation rate of your home country i.e value of the Indian rupee.
